Cannes, France
Cannes, France
Major screwup by the tour guide, that would be me! I didn’t read the contract correctly and got everyone off the ship by 8:30 for our 9:00 tour…wrong, make that 12:00 tour. All was not lost however, we did get to walk around Cannes while the Cannes Film Festival was going on.
No movie star sightings, of course not, it was too early in the morning.
We met with our driver at 12:00 noon, the actual time and went to St. Paul de Vence. A haven for famous art collectors. A mid evil village with lots of restaurants and art galleries.
We had lunch then strolled around the village. Back in the vans to Antibes, a resort town since the mid 19th century, home of some of the largest billionaire’s yachts in the world.
We were to go to Monte Carlo also, but with my messing up this morning we would have run out of town. Monte Carlo would have been another hour drive there to stay one hour then drive one hour back. We opted to not do that, I am sure a disappointment for some that have not been there…sorry folks.
With the Cannes Film Festival in town, the traffic was a nightmare, so a good decision not to go all the way to Monte Carlo.
Driving home, we went along the Cote d’Azur, the French Riveria. With our van, we had special passes to go down a street in front of where the movie stars were going to be coming out. Still did not recognize anyone famous, but it was a fun adventure to be “in the middle of the parade”
I didn’t take many pictures today, so I will have to rely on the rest for their pictures.
Tonight is formal night on the ship, everyone is pooped and taking a nap before dinner.
We celebrated Tonys Suprise Birthday dinner...was even a suprise to him
Tomorrow…Florence, hope I do a better job tomorrow than I did today.
