Kotor, Montenegro
KOTOR, Montenegro
A town hugging the steep cliffs, Kotor is one of Europes most well preserved medieval cities. The city is full of winding cobblestone streets, narrow allies and many squares. Looks like the most active places are the restaurants. There was not much to see after the seven highlighted points of interest, which all seemed to be within yards of each other.
Once part of Yugoslavia until they earned their independence. It is now its own country.
A not to bright idea was made by Yvette and Elio to grab a taxi and head to the top of the mountain in search of the farmers cheese and smoked hams they are famous for.
We started our ascent with hairpin turns again, cliff hugging the narrow road. At one point two busses wanted to pass each other, but there was no room, so one bus and a truck had to back up part of the way up the mountain.
Once we got up there, we realized that the cheese and the ham were probably not worth the trip, but the views from the top were spectacular.
After we got down to sea level, we went on a search for the wine of the region. Then to lunch at a local spot. Fresh calamari from the sea, both grilled and lightly fried, a seafood pasta and pizza rounded out our lunch.
Back to the ship for an afternoon sail.

what a ride up the mountain to no where!!!
ReplyDeleteOnce we came upon human life, stomach settled, the views from atop the mountain area were unbelievable, I could not get enough of the beauty. Our ship looked like a tiny, tiny very tiny toy down in the water.
