Dinner with Bailli in Spain
Dinner with the Bailli of Spain.
We arrived at the Restaurant. We met our “new friend” Ruben, his wife Blanca and one of their officers Monte.
I had set up correspondence with Ruben months earlier when I knew we would be in Barcelona a few days before our cruise.
Dinner was several couses of fresh local seafood, served with special wines picked out by Ruben. The red was made by a friend of Rubin, grown specifically in a particular region he is fond of, and the wine was named after Ruben and Blanca.
Ruben speaks many languages, and he and Elio conversed in Italian, while Lavina kept the other end of the table lively with her fluent Spanish, translating for Blanca.
The cheese was also locally produced and had an unusual name, named after a women’s breast, it was funny how Blanca was explaining it to us.
An array of desserts were presented as well.
It was a fun night had by all. Tony gave as a present to Ruben a special police pin from the first responders, of Hurricane Katrina. Ruben was touched with this special gift. Rufus and I gave Ruben, his wife Blanca and Monte New Orleans pralines, and a Chaine hat.
